ECO or the Energy Companies Obligation was introduced following on from CERT in 2012. ECO has received great uplift in the past 12 months with hundreds of thousands of properties in the UK up taking their Free ECO grants. This allows them to receive energy efficient measures such as Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation, to trap in any unnecessary lost heat from some of the UK’s leakiest housing stock in Europe.
ECO has seen a huge uptake in Free grants given out in the UK and this means that the UK is once again hopefully going to rival the housing stock the likes of Germany and Spain.
With over 15 million further homes to insulate with Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation in the UK ECO has a very bright future and will allow those homes that need the grants the most receive free measures that would otherwise cost around £10,000 to install.
Cavity Wall Insulation is installed into a property by injecting insulation bead in the Cavity and is believed to reduce energy bills have up to 25% alongside Loft Insulation, which traps in the heat rising within your property. This provides a powerful combination of energy saving and carbon emission reducing strategies.
With Energy Bills rising year on year and with record levels of unemployment, people are further looking to cut costs, starting with one of the most expensive ones, energy bills.
If each property in the UK can receive cavity wall insulation and loft insulation it would mean that people use less energy to heat their homes and in turn reduce their energy bills year on year.
ECO has a very bright future indeed and long may it continue providing those in the UK that need it the most.
