Automaker Stocks In News: Tesla Motors (NASDAQ:TSLA), Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F), General Motors Company (NYSE:GM), Toyota Motor (NYSE:TM)

People love to criticize Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) for its cars being vulnerable to hacking, but the Model S isn’t the only one. Last summer a couple of hackers were able to compromise a Toyota Prius and a Ford Escape. Now one auto expert tells ValueWalk that Toyota Motor Corp (ADR) (NYSE:TM) (TYO:7203)’s and Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F)’s cars are considered to be among the most easily hackable.Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) shares after opening at $230.30 moved to $235.73 on last trade day and at the end of the day closed at $225.40. With the worst of the winter weather over in North America, Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) too is showing some spring in its step. The January and February sales figures were gloomy just like the weather but the figures rose ever so slightly in March. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) shares fell -0.43% in last trading session and ended the day on $16.39. F return on equity ratio is recorded as 34.20% and its return on assets is 3.60%. Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) yearly performance is 33.14%.

General Motors Co. (NYSE:GM) delayed its report on March sales due out Tuesday morning until sometime in the afternoon. The company blamed a computer snafu. But that is not its biggest problem. Neither is the company’s recall of more than 7 million vehicles so far this year. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) shares moved up 1.61% in last trading session and was closed at $35.44, while trading in range of $34.73-$35.50. General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) year to date performance is -12.52%.

In a sense, Ford is benefiting from the misfortunes of its competitors. But that’s only ‘in a sense.’ Toyota Motor Corp (ADR) (NYSE:TM) has suffered from severe quality assurance problems as reflected in several product-recall events in the last few years. No wonder Americans do not purchase Japanese cars with their eyes closed. No wonder the midsize Fusion is doing especially well against the Toyota Camry (particularly on the West Coast/California). Toyota Motor Corp (ADR) (NYSE:TM) weekly performance is 1.15%. On last trading day company shares ended up $112.86. Toyota Motor Corp (ADR) (NYSE:TM) distance from 50-day simple moving average is -1.10%. Analysts mean target price for the company is $139.67.
