Baidu Inc (ADR) (NASDAQ:BIDU) deviates from the strategy followed by other internet leaders by slowing down its acquisition spree rather than joining companies like Tencent and Alibaba, who are aggressively entering into deals.  It has been the busiest time for China’s internet sector with almost every major company acquiring a start-up and making deals, says a report from SCMP. Sprint Corp. (S), the third largest telecom operator in the U.S. has decided to wrap up its WiMax operation by the end of 2015. In 2013, Sprint entered into the WiMax business after its acquisition of WiMax wholesaler Clearwire. However, Sprint itself was taken over by Japanese telecom giant, Softbank by the end of 2013. Currently, Sprint has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) shares advanced 0.92% in last trading session and ended the day on $8.80. S return on equity ratio is recorded as -12.80% and its return on assets is -4.10%.  Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) yearly performance is 40.80%.

Polygon has a position in Vodafone Group Plc (ADR) (NASDAQ:VOD), which the fund thinks is most actively positioned to benefit from the wave of consolidation in the European telecom industry. Vodafone can particularly benefit in Germany, Austria, Spain and Ireland. The company recently acquired one of Germany’s leading cable operators, Kabel Deutschland Holding AG (FRA:KD8).Vodafone Group Plc (ADR)(NASDAQ:VOD) shares moved up 3.03% in last trading session and was closed at $37.09, while trading in range of $ 36.62 – 37.10.Vodafone Group Plc (ADR)(NASDAQ:VOD) year to date (YTD) performance is -7.44%.

Shares of Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) saw a significant drop in short interest in January. As of March 14th, there was short interest totalling 53,298,724 shares, a drop of 27.1% from the February 28th total of 73,073,654 shares, Analyst Ratings Network reports. Approximately 1.3% of the shares of the stock are short sold. Based on an average daily trading volume, of 40,835,311 shares, the days-to-cover ratio is presently 1.3 days. Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) weekly performance is 1.46%. On last trading day company shares ended up $47.98. Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) distance from 50-day simple moving average (SMA50) is 2.93%. Analysts mean target price for the company is $54.04.
