QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) address Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) 64-bit A7 is a ‘gimmick’

In a meeting QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM)’s executive disused about Apple’s 64-bit chip architecture and said that company will be in a tough position if it chooses to move to a 64-bit Snapdragon design.

Senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Qualcomm Anand Chandrasekher  said to IDG News Service that I know that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) also uses 64-bit in its A7 but it is just a marketing trick and it will not benefits its customer. He also addresses a fact that a 64-bit architecture requires 4GB memory but most of Smartphones only have 1GB or 2GB of memory.

He said that companies  will   need 64-bit ARM chips in future Smartphones as well as  in tablets,  the company behind the chip designs for Qualcomm, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and Samsung. ARM’s strategist, James Bruce in an interview to CNET explained that recently high standard Smartphones and tablets are already having 4GB memory.

Recently, no one can forecast what should be done with devices in next year. For example Apple’s A7 would be leader of future iOS devices into a 64-bit architecture.

According to a statement on Apple’s Web site that it is up to on people choice that how will they use 64-bit and make investment decision in it.

Jefferies analyst Peter Misek also said in a note to investors last month that switching to the 64-bit A7 processor will not benefit apple in the short term but it is our we believe that in  longer term it  will benefit a lot. He said that 64-bit will be an example of the investments that Apple needs to make to remain competitive despite its drawback in short term.

QUALCOMM, Inc. (NASDAQ:QCOM) may find 64-bit chips in consumer devices gimmicky trick but on the other hand its rival Samsung announce 64-bit chip and Apple release a second-generation 64-bit devise made Qualcomm justification confusing.
