    Australia Markets Greet Christmas with Excitement; Stocks Up ahead of Holidays

    Australian stocks advanced amid weak volume in early Monday trading, as investors positioned themselves before a two-day Christmas break, with miners generally higher.

    Top mining firms BHP Billiton Limited (ASX:BHP) (ASX:BHP) and Rio Tinto Limited(ASX:RIO) (NYSE:RIO) gained 0.4% and 0.6%, respectively.
