  • BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY)’s Backyard: A source of Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) New Talent

    Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)  incorporations Motorola Mobility unit, are trying to take advantage from the growing pool of local talent of Blackberry limited as it has started layoff its staff in its backyard of Waterloo and Ontario.

    Motorola Mobility that was acquired by Google last year was in search of computer science and engineering talent. On Thursday Derek Phillips, engineering director for Motorola Canada said that, “We have not enough space right now so we are looking to expand in a considerable manner.”

    Google is planning to setup a new hub in the hometown of Blackberry, in Waterloo.

    Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)   also has its Canadian development headquarters in Waterloo, which will also proof useful in search of local talent.

    The company is attracted because graduates of the University of Waterloo’s are highly ranked in computer science, engineering and technology programs. This University was called pioneer because of its research and development departments since 1990’s.

    But now it’s time for the other part of story when BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) has announced on Friday that it would cut about 4,500 workers, which would result in loss of nearly 1 billion dollar and one third of its employees. This layoff shedder the market retailers.

    The most astonishing news is that on Monday BlackBerry announced that it agreed to sell itself for $4.7 billion to its biggest shareholder, Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.

    Phillips said, “The target is to attempt an effort to get as many people who are interested to work with us and hire as many people as we can. I consider as long as we can catch really good people, we will find a way to hire them.”

    Not only Motorola is looking to grow in the region but also Square Incorporation developing the strategy to set up permanent office in that area.
