Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA) said on Wednesday it is working with a company from Israel on an air-aluminum battery that can extend the range of electric cars by 1,000 miles. Alcoa and Phinergy Inc. announced a pact at the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference in Atlanta to continue development and commercialize Phinergy’s batteries that run on air and aluminum. Raymond Kilmer, chief technology officer, said Alcoa’s materials expertise and experience in bringing products to the automotive industry were of great interest to Phinergy. Alcoa’s team on the project is based at the Alcoa Technical Center in Upper Burrell. Alcoa Inc (NYSE:AA) stock decreased -3.33% and finished the last session at $11.04.
