    US stocks advanced today after strong earnings reports from leading technology companies.

    In corporate news, Uranium Resources, Inc. (NASDAQ:URRE) hit new high and was the top gainer after setting 5:00 p.m. eastern time on January 28, 2013 as the record date for its previously-declared shareholder rights offering.

    Cree, Inc. (NASDAQ:CREE) jumped about 19% to hit new high after releasing higher than expected Q2 results.

    Telik, Inc. (NASDAQ:TELK) opened sharply higher after the company declared the completion of an End of Phase 2 meeting with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

    Intuitive Surgical, Inc. (NASDAQ:ISRG) advanced 9% on better-than-predicted Q4 results.

    Threshold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:THLD) rallied 16% after Celgene Corp. (CELG) revealed that a late-stage trial of its drug Abraxane increased life by nearly two months in pancreatic cancer patients.

    Generex Biotechnology Corporation (OTC:GNBT) rallied after the company announced submission of Generex Oral-lyn™ Phase III dossier to Indian government for marketing approval.

    Ferro Corporation (NYSE:FOE) jumped after Form 8-K submission.

    Safeway Inc. (NYSE:SWY) skyrocketed as the company has improved the speed and accuracy of its till reconciliation process across its about 1,700 stores using the installation of technology.

    KB Home (NYSE:KBH) gained sharply on an upgraded from an “underperform” rating to a “market perform” rating at Raymond James.

    Turning to hot stocks, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD), Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ:SYMC), International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE:IBM) and Alcatel Lucent SA (ADR) (NYSE:ALU) were trading higher.

    On the flip side, STR Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:STRI) was losing the most on expectation to lose First Solar as a customer.

    Coach, Inc. (NYSE:COH) tumbled 13% on lower-than-projected 2Q results.

    Numerex Corp. (NASDAQ:NMRX) declined 11.8% after pricing underwritten public offering of common stock.
