    News Bundle: 50-plus bullish stocks worth noticing

    Although Wall Street ended Monday mostly lower despite a better-than-predicted manufactured durable goods report, these companies went the opposite direction and ended the day in green.

    Keryx Biopharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:KERX) was the biggest gainer on Wall Street, adding 76% to hit new high of $6.86 after its kidney disease drug met late-stage trial target. [article_detail_ad_1]

    Furiex Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:FURX) marked new all-time high of $35.75 and closed 66.38% higher as the company is entitled to receive a $25 million milestone payment as a result of the FDA approval for three new type 2 diabetes therapies, NESINA and the fixed-dose combination therapies, OSENI and KAZANO. It will also have royalties on sales in the United States and potential sales-based milestones.

    FreeSeas Inc. (NASDAQ:FREE) soared 35.70% after the recent strength in another Greek shipping company, NewLead Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:NEWL).

    Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (NYSE:EXM) rose 17%, Seven Arts Entertainment Inc (PINK:SAPX) rallied 34.9%, Globalstar, Inc. (PINK:GSAT) surged 16.71%, Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) jumped 14.06% and PositiveID Corporation (OTC:PSID) advanced 8.25%.

    Shengkai Innovations, Inc.(NDA) (NASDAQ:VALV) jumped 33.01% after Elite Traders Group offered insight suggesting that the company may see some action this week.

    RadioShack Corporation (NYSE:RSH) advanced 21.97%, the best intraday rally since July 7. The company is looking for a new chief executive officer after James Gooch stepped down in September and CFO Dorvin Lively was given the additional role as interim CEO.

    Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ:GLUU) was 15.22% up after a Seeking Alpha explained why insiders and Venture Capital are acquiring shares of the company.

    Novatel Wireless Inc (NASDAQ:NVTL) increased 13.73% after its MT 3050 device received technical approval from Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ).

    OCZ Technology Group Inc. (NASDAQ:OCZ) surged 12.13% after the company provided new high-wattage options to its PC Power & Cooling Silencer MK III portfolio with an addition of 750W and 850W power supply unit (PSU) models.

    Dole Food Company, Inc. (NYSE:DOLE) rallied 9.56% after the company settled a lawsuit claiming environmental misrepresentations.

    Georgia Gulf Corporation (NYSE:GGC) added $4.34 or 8.64% to set new high of $54.62 after the company posted its preliminary results of its exchange offer, revealing that it had tendered 72.1 million shares.

    A.P. Pharma, Inc. (OTC:APPA) and PBF Energy Inc (NYSE:PBF) both hit new high.

    Meritor Inc (NYSE:MTOR) scored third gain in a row.

    Velti Plc (NASDAQ:VELT) rose after a plan to webcast its 2013 Analyst Day event on Jan. 30, 2013, beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET.

    Nordion Inc (USA) (NYSE:NDZ) traded higher on decision to explore strategic options.

    Lattice Semiconductor (NASDAQ:LSCC) extended gains after results.

    Hess Corp. (NYSE:HES) added about 6% after disclosing a plan to sell 20 oil storage terminals in the United States and the Caribbean, and get rid of its refining business.

    TravelCenters of America LLC (NYSEAMEX:TA) rallied 6.86% to score new high of $7.80. The stock extended gains after the takeover and rebranding of a travel center in Holbrook, Arizona, to the TA brand.

    Other stocks up above 6% on Monday included Youku Tudou Inc (ADR) (NYSE:YOKU), Opko Health Inc. (NYSE:OPK), Sears Holdings Corporation (NASDAQ:SHLD), AEterna Zentaris Inc. (USA) (NASDAQ:AEZS), Chiquita Brands International, Inc. (NYSE:CQB) and Capstone Turbine Corporation (NASDAQ:CPST).

    NII Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:NIHD) gained 5.51% after a Seeking Alpha article claimed the stock as “very undervalued”.

    Sony Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:SNE) extended rally after a report that Japanese state-backed fund wants a Nissan Motor Co Ltd and NEC Corp joint venture to acquire Sony Corp’s lithium-ion battery unit in order to stop competitors in China and Taiwan from getting its technology as the Tokyo TV maker seems to divest non-core units, according to the Daily Yomiuri.

    Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) rose 4.54% on an upgrade to a buy from a hold rating at Craig-Hallum.

    Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX) increased 3.78% in price after BMO Capital Markets raised its rating on the stock from Market Perform to Outperform and lifted the price target by $1 to $10.00.

    SUPERVALU INC. (NYSE:SVU) jumped 3.66% after Moody\’s Investors Service rated proposed new $1.5 billion senior secured term loan as B1, confirmed its B3 Corporate Family Rating and improved the rating outlook to stable from negative.

    The Western Union Company (NYSE:WU) closed 3.62% up after Standpoint Research commenced coverage of the stock with a buy rating and set a price target of $19 a share.

    Staples, Inc. (NASDAQ:SPLS) added 3.08% on Monday after Goldman Sachs upgraded the stock from Sell to Neutral and raised a price target to $14.00 from $11.50.

    Terex Corporation (NYSE:TEX) reached a 21-month high as Bank of America Merrill Lynch upgraded the stock from Underperform to Neutral and increased the price target from $22.00 to $34.00.

    Marvell Technology Group Ltd. (NASDAQ:MRVL) traded higher after its chairman, president, chief executive officer and founder, Dr. Sehat Sutardja , has been selected for Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.

    Tesoro Corporation (NYSE:TSO) marked new high on a plan to shut its 94,000 barrel-a-day Kapolei refinery in April and convert it into a storage terminal.

    Republic Services (NYSE: RSG) and Waste Management, Inc. (NYSE:WM) both set new highs after Credit Suisse analyst Hamzah Mazari gave comment that the two are best suited in the industry for REIT conversion.

    More on the upside, Navistar International Corp (NYSE:NAV), E TRADE Financial Corporation (NASDAQ:ETFC), Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:HTZ), DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ:DRYS) and Noble Corporation (NYSE:NE) each closed up over 2.3%.

    Looking at gainers among volume leaders, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Weatherford International Ltd (NYSE:WFT), Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA), Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) and (NASDAQ:NWSA) were hot on Monday.
