    JA Solar Soars On Earnings (UNFI, JASO, GIII)

    United Natural Foods, Inc. (NASDAQ:UNFI) stock gained 0.06% to $50.25 in the after hour after the company reported  third quarter net income of $29 million or $0.59 per share from $23.4 million or $0.48 per share in the prior year period. Quarterly sales were $1.39 billion from $1.20 billion in the same quarter last year. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of $0.56 per share on revenues of $1.35 billion for the quarter.

    Looking forward, the company narrowed and raised its earnings per share guidance for fiscal 2012 to a range of around $1.84 to $1.88. The company previously provided earnings guidance of $1.79 to $1.86 per share.

    JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR) (NASDAQ:JASO) shares increased 13.48% to $1.010 in the pre-market hour after the company reported its unaudited financial results for its first quarter ended March 31, 2012.

    The company’s total shipments in the first quarter of 2012 were 366 MW, above the company’s previously provided guidance of 320 MW to 350 MW. Revenue in the first quarter of 2012 was RMB 1.6 billion ($254.4 million), a decrease of 56.0% from RMB 3.6 billion ($578.5 million) reported in the same quarter of 2011. Loss per diluted ADS was RMB 1.28($0.20), as compared with earnings per diluted ADS of RMB 2.68($0.43) in the first quarter of 2011.

    Looking forward, the company expects second quarter total cell and module shipments to be between 420 MW and 440 MW. The Company’s full year guidance of 1.8 GW to 2 GW remains unchanged.

    G-III Apparel Group, Ltd. (NASDAQ:GIII) posted first quarter net loss of $847 thousand or $0.04 per share, as against a loss of $520 thousand or $0.03 per share in the same quarter last year. Net sales grew 16.5% to $229.45 million from the prior-year quarter. Analysts expected the company to report loss of $0.04 per share on revenue estimate of $213.39 million.
