    What news is driving these 35-plus stocks sharply lower?

    Although the broad equity markets extended a six-day rally, these companies went the opposite direction and ended Thursday in red.

    OSI Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSIS) was the biggest loser on Wall Street after its fiscal second-quarter sales missed analyst estimates.

    Whiting USA Trust (NYSE:WHX) tumbled 13.31% to close at $5.73.[article_detail_ad_1]

    Flagstar Bancorp Inc (NYSE:FBC) lost 12.23% after the release of its fourth-quarter and annual financial results.

    Cirrus Logic, Inc. (NASDAQ:CRUS) plunged 10.82% on a weak Q4 outlook.

    Molycorp Inc (NYSE:MCP) fell 10.28% after the company predicted lower revenue and cash flow.

    QKL Stores Inc (NASDAQ:QKLS) hit worst level since its IPO and ended 9% down on Thursday, followed by Seven Arts Entertainment Inc (PINK:SAPX).

    Magnum Hunter Resources Corp (NYSE:MHR) retreated 6.92% on a downgrade from Buy to Hold at Jefferies. The firm also reduced the price target from $6.50 to $4.50 on the stock.

    Opko Health Inc. (NYSE:OPK) was down after a plan to sell about $150 million aggregate principal amount of convertible senior notes due 2033 in a private offering.

    Keryx Biopharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:KERX) declined after a report suggested that the probability of its success is still not solid.

    Noble Corporation (NYSE:NE) dropped 6% yesterday after its flat earnings for the fourth quarter. However, TheStreet Ratings has recently upgraded the stock from hold to buy.

    Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE:ANR) fell 5.5% after CSX Corp provided the big economic warning that the domestic U.S. coal market is expected to remain weak throughout much of 2013.

    The drop in gold prices weighed on shares of Kinross Gold Corporation (USA) (NYSE:KGC), Golden Star Resources Ltd. (USA) (NYSEAMEX:GSS), Eldorado Gold Corp (USA) (NYSE:EGO), Yamana Gold Inc. (USA) (NYSE:AUY), New Gold Inc. (USA) (NYSEAMEX:NGD), Barrick Gold Corporation (USA) (NYSE:ABX), Jaguar Mining Inc (USA) (NYSE:JAG) and IAMGOLD Corporation (USA) (NYSE:IAG).

    Similarly the decline in silver prices negatively affected shares of Great Panther Silver Ltd (USA) (NYSEAMEX:GPL), Hecla Mining Company (NYSE:HL), Pan American Silver Corp. (USA) (NASDAQ:PAAS), Endeavour Silver Corp. (CAN) (NYSE:EXK) and Coeur d’Alene Mines Corporation (NYSE:CDE).

    Polycom Inc (NASDAQ:PLCM) lost 5.33% on a lower-than-expected earnings release.

    Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE:TER) tumbled on a weak outlook for the quarter ending in March.

    Altera Corporation (NASDAQ:ALTR) fell 4.60% after releasing earnings below forecast and a weak guidance.

    US Airways Group, Inc. (NYSE:LCC) suffered a fall a day after it posted highest annual profit in company history and showed 100% profit growth for the fourth-quarter. The company has recently signed a new tentative deal on a collective bargaining agreement with the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), which represents the airline’s 6,800 mainline flight attendants.

    Mellanox Technologies, Ltd. (NASDAQ:MLNX) was hit harder after its sales outlook failed to meet estimates for a second time this month.

    Turning to other hot stocks, MGIC Investment Corp. (NYSE:MTG), Focus Media Holding Limited (ADR) (NASDAQ:FMCN), Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE:HOV), LSI Corp (NASDAQ:LSI), Safeway Inc. (NYSE:SWY), Rite Aid Corporation (NYSE:RAD), KB Home (), News Corp (NASDAQ:NWSA) and Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (NYSE:FCX) all fell in a range of 0 to 6%.
