    SolarWinds Reports Solid Earnings (SWC, SWI, SWY, TLAB, TS, TSM)

     

    Stillwater Mining Company (NYSE:SWC) plunged 5.62% to $10.58 following the Company announced first quarter results. Net income was $2.4 million or $0.02 per share compared to net income of $36.2 million or $0.34 per share in the first quarter 2011. Total revenues were $203.1 million versus $170.1 million in the first quarter of 2011.

     

    SolarWinds Inc (NYSE:SWI) jumped up 19.17% to $45.07 after the Company announced first quarter results. Total revenue increased 39% to $59.7 million. On a GAAP basis, diluted earnings per share were $0.23 compared to $0.16 in the first quarter of 2011. Net cash provided by operating activities was $28.3 million compared to $18.9 million for the first quarter of 2011. The Company expects total revenue in the range of $59.0-$60.2 million for the second quarter of 2011.

     

     

    Safeway Inc (NYSE:SWY) declined 3.33% to $20.88 after the Company announced first quarter results. Net income was $72.9 million or $0.27 per share against $25.1 million or $0.07 per share in the prior year period. Income from continuing operations was $81.6 million or $0.30 per share versus $25.1 million or $0.07 per share in the previous year period. Sales and other revenue was $10.0 billion in the first quarter 2012.

     

    Tellabs Inc (NASDAQ:TLAB) went down 4.47% to $3.85 The Company posted first quarter net loss of $140 million or $0.38 per share compared to loss of $24 million or $0.07 per share in the prior year period.  Quarterly revenues were $258 million versus $322 million in the prior year period.

     

    Tenaris S.A. (ADR) (NYSE:TS) surged up 4.78% to $38.79 after the Company announced first quarter results. Profit was $453.4 million or 75 cents per American depositary share compared to $324.2 million or 54 cents per ADS in the prior year period. Net sales increased 13% to $2.62 billion. However, analysts expected profit of 64 cents on revenue of $2.7 billion.

     

     

    Taiwan Semiconductor Mfg Co Ltd (ADR) (NYSE:TSM) increased 4.59% to $15.69 after the Company declared first quarter results. Net profit was NT$33.47 billion versus NT$36.28 billion in the prior year period due to lower wafer shipments in a weak global economy. Revenue rose 0.1% to NT$105.51 billion. The Company expects second quarter revenue to rise 19%-21% to NT$126 billion-NT$128 billion.
