    Big Movers: The bad news behind the recent decline in these stocks

    Velti Plc (NASDAQ:VELT) tumbled 25.23% on Wednesday, leading top decliners on Wall Street after a presentation at its 2013 Analyst Day at 8:30 AM ET on January 30, 2013.

    Ventrus Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:VTUS) lost 22.87% to $2.53 on a plan to offer 5.8 million shares of common stock at $2.50 a share.

    CEVA, Inc. (NASDAQ:CEVA) plunged 13.33% on lower-than-expected outlook for the current quarter revenue. [article_detail_ad_1]

    Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:HA) declined 13.00% a day after results. Deutsche Bank downgraded the stock to “Hold” from “Buy” and lowered its outlook of the company’s 2013 adjusted profit to 90 cents per share from $1.55 per share.

    Meritor Inc (NYSE:MTOR) fell 12.52% after loss and reduced annual revenue estimates.

    Spansion Inc. (NYSE:CODE) decreased 10.86% on disappointed financial results.

    Websense Inc. (NASDAQ:WBSN) retreated 10.60% on weak outlook.

    Solar stocks including LDK Solar Co., Ltd (ADR) (NYSE:LDK), Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR) (NYSE:STP) and JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd. (ADR) (NASDAQ:JASO) traded lower on Wednesday.

    In shipping industry, DryShips Inc. (NASDAQ:DRYS) fell 5.70% and Eagle Bulk Shipping Inc. (NASDAQ:EGLE) dropped 11.06% analyst actions while NewLead Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:NEWL) extended fall one day after regained compliance with NASDAQ minimum bid price requirement.

    Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. (NYSE:ANR) and Arch Coal Inc (NYSE:ACI) were down after Peabody Energy Corporation (NYSE:BTU) reported weak fourth-quarter results.

    JDS Uniphase Corp (NASDAQ:JDSU) declined sharply Wednesday, though it jumped 14.84% on earnings after the closing bell.

    Petroleo Brasileiro Petrobras SA (ADR) (NYSE:PBR) retreated 4.72% amid an unexpected decline in U.S. growth and a mixed bag of data from Asia and Europe.

    JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ:JBLU) continued to decline after earnings miss.

    Opko Health Inc. (NYSE:OPK) extended fall after its chairman and CEO Dr. Phillip Frost appeared on a CNBC show.

    Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) was under pressure after report that the company registered several domain names that include the hedge-fund manager Bill Ackman.

    Despite hitting new high, The Ryland Group, Inc. (NYSE:RYL) fell 2.59% after results.

    Among other homebuilders, D.R. Horton, Inc. (NYSE:DHI) was down after a plan to offer $700M of Senior notes while Lennar Corporation (NYSE:LEN) fell after pricing $450 Million of Senior Notes. PulteGroup, Inc. (NYSE:PHM) was down a day before its earnings release on Thursday. Hovnanian Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE:HOV) and McDermott International (NYSE:MDR) both retreated more than 3.8%.

    United States Steel Corporation (NYSE:X) dropped 3.79% on a deal with Carpenter.

    Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) plunged 3.28% on recent actions taken by Fitch.

    Zynga Inc (NASDAQ:ZNGA) fell after the news of Chief Game Designer Brian Reynolds departure.

    Cemex SAB de CV (ADR) (NYSE:CX) hit new high on an upgrade from a sell rating to a hold rating at TheStreet but failed to end the day in green.

    J.C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE:JCP) trended down after Bloomberg reported that the company is on track to great lengths to show customers its house-brand apparel is cheaper than competitors.

    Turning to volume leaders, Research In Motion Limited (USA) (NASDAQ:RIMM), Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK), General Electric Company (NYSE:GE), Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC), Corning Incorporated (NYSE:GLW), American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG), Vale SA (ADR) (NYSE:VALE) and Alcoa Inc. (NYSE:AA) all ended the day in red.
