2012 Review of Dow: General Electric (NYSE:GE), Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) and Alcoa (NYSE:AA)

In 2012, trading the US stock indices was a difficult task for some traders and 2013 is also expected to pose challenges as the global economic outlook remains doubtful for growth. Looking back, the Dow Jones Industrial Average had gained from December 2011 up until May this year rallying 13.66 percent at 13,338 before facing a corrective move to the downside and declining 9.77 percent in just 23 business sessions.

But the Bulls appeared again to boost the index above the May high to then mark the 2012 year high at 13,661 in October to once again face the second fall of 2012 retreating another -8.71 percent in 28 days. As 2012 is near to end the Dow Jones index has scored a lower high and with just a few more trading days left it is expected that we may not see new highs.

The share price of the Dow component General Electric Company(NYSE:GE) lost -0.29% during trading Monday, ending at $20.82 after decision to sell 25.3 percent stake in Bank of Ayudhya to Mitsubishi UFJ. At that price, the company has a market cap of $218.32 billion and a P/E ratio of 15.45. The stock has a 52 week worst hit of $17.72 and a 52 week high of $23.18. The P/S ratio is 1.50 and P/B ratio 1.78. Dividend yield stands at3.65 percent. The beta value is 1.61. GE’s RSI amounts to 45.37.

The Procter & Gamble Company(NYSE:PG) was down after analysts at Zacks reaffirmed their neutral rating on the stock. The market value of this company is $187.35 billion. It has 126,000 people in workforce, over the last 12 months has generated revenue of $82.89 billion and has earnings of $8.74billion. The firm’s operating margin is 15.68 percent and net profit margin 11.06 percent.

The latest closing price of its shares moved down -0.42% from the 50-day moving average.

Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) and Bristol Myers Squibb Co. (NYSE:BMY) recently disclosed that the Japanese Ministry of health, Labor and Welfare or MHLW has approved ELIQUIS.
