Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL): Speculation about the launch of the new iPad Mini gets put to rest

People have been waiting rather anxiously for the release of the Apple Inc.(NASDAQ:AAPL)’s  iPad Mini. After months of rumors, first about it being made, and after that, about is specifications, have finally lead up to the speculations about when the company is going to release it. Not very long ago, The Wall Street Journal had been talking to the Chinese factory workers and component providers about the existence of the new, smaller tablet. The workers and the suppliers had confirmed the fact that Apple is indeed working on a smaller version of the iPad, which is to target the part of the poluation which goes for the smaller, and cheaper tablets.

When Apple released their original tablet, with a big screen, it was immediately popular all over the world. Apple’s quality service and its iconic brand image had people craving for an iPad for the longest time. However, smaller and less expensive tablets of good quality soon flooded the market. These included the Nexus 7 by Samsung, as well as the Kindle Fire by Amazon. Apple too, it seems, wants a share of the market space in that category.

The new, smaller tablet is probably going to have a 7.85 inch screen, it is going to be substantially slimmer and sleeker than its parent tablet, and as cable connectivity, it will probably have Lightning. However, the more decisive details have not been revealed as of yet, as to what the other, more important specs are going to be like. There are still speculations about the cost of the new tablet, as well as its Retina resolution.

The earlier rumors had purported that the new iPad Mini would be released on the 17th of October, at an invitation-only gathering, probably at the Apple Town Hall Auditorium. However, now it has been confirmed that the date for the release has been set to the 23rd of this month, and it has been confirmed by reliable sources. John Pacszkowski talked about how the launch of the Surface by Microsoft could have pushed Apple into changing the release day to a Tuesday, while usually, the company tends to release products on Wednesdays.
