Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB): Ranked and Nested Comments System being Tested

Yet another experiment is being carried out from the Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) stable. Last week, it was reported that the social network was carrying out tests regarding nested comments with a select number of users. This feature, if successful, is a long-needed one, as it will organize comments more efficiently and make them easier to follow.

According to Mashable, the ranked comments system is also in its testing phase, which moves up more interactive and engaging comments to the top of the stream. This new format is being tested with Pages posts. Comments are no longer sorted by time stamps now nor are they sorted depending on the number of likes they get. Hidden comments will be affected negatively, although comments getting individual responses will be placed higher.

A Facebook official has confirmed that this new format will be extremely useful and users have responded positively to it as of now. Though the format is only restricted to comments on Page posts, people are actively participating in it. As mentioned before, the most engaging responses are moved higher and a user can also choose to reply to individual comments as well as the original post. Page admins will be able to post responses to individual comments with the help of a reply button.

Facebook has not stated a specific time period as to when all users in the social network will be able to use this feature. However, it is clear that if the ranked and nested comment system is executed successfully, it will take Facebook conversations to a different level altogether. Interactions will be improved and the issue regarding spammy comments can be easily tackled. Furthermore, users will not need to keep on scrolling to follow long conversation threads.
