The next day shipping service is currently offered for the US Apple Store and is not available free in the UK for instance, but it indicates that any last minute purchases should be delivered in time for the holidays.
The highly popular iPad mini which is listing as shipping within 1 week is included in the exceptions to the rule, suggesting that ordering now won’t let you get one ahead of Christmas.
