Breaking Tech News: Oracle (NASDAQ:ORCL), Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT)

Technology companies are showing signs of life today, with gains from sector leaders such as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN). Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ:ORCL) shares were up 5 cents at $32.41 in early trading Tuesday before the business-software company’s earnings release, due after the market close.

Oracle (ORCL) has rolled out a major new version of its NoSQL implementation, assuring that it will help in easier management of ‘high-velocity transactional data’ such as that comes from social media and smart sensors. The company introduced Oracle NoSQL Database 2.0 yesterday, using its Berkeley DB storage engine and is more strongly incorporated with Oracle’s Database and Hadoop environments than earlier iterations.[article_detail_ad_1]

Turning to Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO), Jesus Solana, telco division director, digital media & broadcast at Cisco Spain, said in an interview with Rapid TV News that the media market has stepped into a new era, characterized by the exponential growth of video-ready devices and video traffic video services.

The Cisco VNI report claims that in 2014 there will be more than 12,000 million terminals linked to IP networks, TVs, tablets, game consoles and other consumer devices, which collects all types of content all over the Web. On the other hand, new over-the-top (OTT) online video services will try to win consumers as the global community of online video is expected to increase from the 1,000 million current users to 1,700 million by 2015.

American retail chain Dollar General has signed a partnership agreement with Microsoft (MSFT) to provide Xbox Live Gold memberships and Microsoft Points directly at the checkout. Now there is no need input pre-paid cards manually as they are sent directly to your Xbox 360 account. With this move, it has become the first retailer to use the service.
