Cisco Systems Slumps On Disappointing Earnings (ATVI, AUQ,BMC, CSCO)
Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATVI) shares gained 1.21% to $12.55 in the after hour trading after the company reported first-quarter net profit of $384 million or $0.33 per share, compared to $503 million or $0.42 per share last year. Adjusted earnings for the quarter were $0.06 per share, compared to $0.13 per share last year. Net revenues for the quarter were $1.17 billion, down from $1.45 billion last year. Analysts expected earnings of $0.04 per share on revenues of $551.93 million for the quarter.
AuRico Gold Inc (NYSE:AUQ) reported first-quarter net earnings that declined to $1.35 million from $11.79 million in the year ago quarter. Total basic net earnings per share were $0.00, compared to $0.09 in the prior year quarter. Adjusted net earnings per share rose to $0.21 from $0.14 last year. Revenues for the quarter were $177.3 million, a 152% increase over 2011. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of $0.12 per share on revenues of $144.37 million for the quarter.
BMC Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:BMC) fourth quarter profit fell 42% from last year, hurt by higher costs and expenses.
The company reported fourth quarter net income of $70.7 million or $0.43 per share, as compared to $122.5 million or $0.67 per share for the year-ago quarter. Adjusted net income for the fourth quarter was $122.5 million or $0.74 per share. Total revenue for the fourth quarter grew 0.4% to $564.7 million. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.80 per share on revenue estimate of $561.43 million for the fourth quarter.
Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) stock plunged 8.73% to $17.14 in the after hour trading after the company posted a third quarter profit of $2.17 billion, or $0.40 a share, as compared to $1.81 billion, or $0.33 a share, in the same quarter a year earlier. Adjusted per-share earnings were up to $0.48 a share. Revenue rose 6.6% to $11.59 billion amid particularly strong demand in the data center, wireless and services segments. The company’s February forecast called for earnings between $0.45 and $0.47 a share on revenue growth of 5% to 7%. Gross margin widened to 61.9% from 61.3%.
