EU Commission Gave Google Concession of a Month to Check its Search Display Results

European Union’s antitrust body has said on Tuesday that the internet giant Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has settled to modify its displays of search results in Europe. The changes will include displaying links to competitors and a better labeling of its sponsored content.

This changing step was taken by one of world’s most influential gateway, after European Union receive complains regarding its abusing attitude against dominant market position.

Google’s is world’s top search engine, has come under EU Commission investigation since 2010, EU is an antitrust authority which acts in 27-nation, has investigating Google whether it is unfairly oppressive attitude regarding competition in Europe or not.

After the investigation of EU Commission, it has order the internet giant to clearly label search results stemming from its services like Google Maps, Google News, and flight search functions. Due to which the users will make difference between Google promoted result and natural search results. In addition to that Google will also display some search results from its rivals and links to their services.

Now EU Commission is suggesting a market test of the dispensation for a month. This dispensation period will give competitors the option to say whether they judge Google sufficiently.

A 17 companies group competing with Google, which mostly comprise of internet companies and tech giants like Nokia Expedia, TripAdvisor and Microsoft, guarantee to cautiously study the concessions planned by Google.

As the EU Commission get the concessions, and then the commission would take next step against the internet giant. If Google accepted the deal then it would avoid a fine and if the situation is opposite then the Commission could impose a fine of roughly around 10% of its yearly worldwide revenue, approximately $5 billion in Google’s case.
