Green Deal…

Green Deal is a new innovative scheme backed by Government. It brings about huge improvement possibilities for all UK householders. This includes landlords, tenants, owner occupiers and commercial properties.

The aim of Green Deal is to improve the energy efficiency of more than 13 million homes and businesses by 2020, which is estimated to create more than 260’000 new jobs. It will also increase energy efficiency and reduce heating costs for all concerned!
There are NO upfront costs and the bill for the work carried out is paid back through the savings expected on your energy bill.

How it works

Green Deal is appealing to homes & businesses across the country due to the unbelievable benefits you get from the scheme.
Initially, a FREE NO OBLIGATION assessment is carried out on a property by an accredited Green Deal Assessor.

The home/business will then be offered with a number of energy efficiency measures to be installed.
Once all details are confirmed and acknowledged, the work will take place and the customer pays for the measure through the savings they’re expected to make on their energy bill.

Who pays back the loan?

The scheme allows everyone to pay for all of their efficiency measures over time through their energy bill.
Green Deal has a ‘Golden Rule’ which states that the work carried out has to be less or equal to the expected savings made.
The loan is attached to the property and not the person occupying it. So if you move home or premises, the repayments of the loan stay put until a new tenant moves in and takes over the repayments.

Energy Companies Obligation…

What is ECO?

It is the Government’s new domestic energy efficiency programme designed to replace the existing CERT (Carbon Emission Reduction Target) and CESP (Community Energy Savings Programme) schemes, both of which come to a close at the end of 2012. It will work in parallel with the Government’s Green Deal.
ECO will create a legal obligation on certain energy suppliers to improve the energy efficiency of domestic households through the establishment of three distinct targets:
• The Carbon Emission Reduction Target (20.9 million lifetime tonnes of carbon dioxide). Focusing on hard to treat homes and, in particular, measures that cannot be fully funded through the Green Deal as they do not meet the ‘golden rule’. Solid wall insulation and hard-to-treat cavity wall insulation are the primary measures that the Government intends to be promoted under this target. Other insulation measures and connections to district heating systems are also eligible if they are promoted as part of a package that includes solid wall insulation or hard-to-treat cavity wall insulation.
• The Carbon Savings Community Obligation (CSCO) Target (6.8 million lifetime tonnes of carbon dioxide). Focusing on the provision of insulation measures and connections to district heating systems to domestic energy users that live within an area of low income. This target has a sub-target, which states that 15% of each supplier’s Carbon Savings Community Obligation must be achieved by promoting measures to domestic energy users living in rural areas.
• The Home Heating Cost Reduction Target (£4.2bn of cost savings). Requiring energy suppliers to provide measures which improve the ability of low income and vulnerable households (the ‘Affordable Warmth Group’) to affordably heat their homes via the promotion of heat qualifying actions. A heat qualifying action is the installation of a measure that will result in cost savings; or the replacement or repair of a qualifying boiler.
