Amazon.com was upgraded by Zacks from an “underperform” rating to a “neutral” rating in a report released on Monday, May 28, 2012. The firm currently has a $224.00 target price on the stock. The analysts said that Amazon.com is one of the largest online retailers in the world and the company’s decision to significantly increase the number of fulfilment centres to cater to demand across different markets will likely have a negative impact on its earnings this year. Stiff competition and the corresponding pricing pressure are also expected to continue. Hence they believe that current investments are supported by the strong balance sheet and expect them to drive the next growth phase, enabling international expansion.
