Nokia (NYSE:NOK) and Sirius (NASDAQ:SIRI) scoring top gains in 2H 2012

After a benign first half of 2012, Hurricane Sandy and drought in the US during the second half of the year would cause total economic losses from disasters of at least USD 140 billion.

The total is moderate versus 2011, which saw historic insured losses of more than $120 billion due to record earthquakes and flooding, but is more than the average of the last 10 years, according to Swiss Re.

The stock, as of last close, traded 110.90% up from its 52 week low and recently topped its 52 week high. Its latest closing price was 32.58% above the SMA200 while the distance from SMA 50 and SMA 20 was 10.68% and 9.17% respectively.

Lloyds Banking Group PLC (ADR) (NYSE:LYG) has shown an uptrend of 67.53% in the same period with a monthly performance of +12.46% and 3-month performance up 28.46%. Its latest closing price was 46.95% up from an average-price of 200 days while it maintained a distance from the SMA 50 at +15.98% and +8.66% compared with the SMA 20. The stock was up 127.27% from the 52 week low and marked new 52 week high.

The 6-month performance of Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) stands at +67.20% with a gain of 44.64% in the last three months and +0.24% in the previous twelve months. Its price, as of the latest close, was 156.44% up from the 52 week low and was -23.09% below the 52 week high. Its latest closing price was +36.29% up from an average-price of 200 days while it kept its distance from the SMA 50 at +35.55% and +15.02% compared with the SMA 20.

Sirius XM Radio Inc (NASDAQ:SIRI) so far in past six months moved up 58.20% and its monthly performance stands at +9.93%. The stock was up +70.81% from the 52 week low and was -0.66% below the 52 week high. Its latest closing price was 28.74% up from an average-price of 200 days while it kept its distance from the SMA 50 at +9.00% and +8.67% compared with the SMA 20.
