Sprint (NYSE:S) is expanding their 4G LTE coverage which should help them in their battle with ATT and Verizon. It appears that Sprint (NYSE:S) is expanding to aan additonal 45 markets and will expand their LTE coverage.
Sprint may have taken a backseat lately to John Legere and hisunorthodox UnCarrier ways, but the Now Network’s, once again, moving fast to cover new LTE territory. With today’s market expansion news, Sprint LTE is now officially available throughout New York City — not just in the Bronx and Brooklyn — though note that 4G coverage is still not all-pervasive. Sprint’s also continuing to roll out “enhanced 3G” service as part of its Network Visionplan, which should translate into better speeds and stronger signals for its subscribers — all thanks to infrastructure upgrades. An additional 45 smaller markets, mostly located in the south, will also now see LTE service “turned on,” bringing the carrier’s LTE coverage to 230 markets in total. Amazingly enough, Sprint lost customers, but still posted $383 million in profit this quarter….
Sprint swung to a third-quarter profit its first period under new ownership.
The company, which reports for the first time after the completion of the SoftBank takeover and Clearwire acquisition, posted a net profit of $383 million, compared with a year-earlier loss of $767 million. No per-share earnings/loss were provided because the new combined SoftBank/Sprint stock was issued part way through the quarter.
It posted an operating loss of $398 million, compared with $231 million a year ago.
The company’s net operating revenue fell 2 percent to $8.68 billion.
