When Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) sought to acquire messaging startup WhatsApp Inc. for as much as $19 billion in cash and stock, the social networking site turned to Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP for the deal. WhatsApp relied on Fenwick & West LLP, the firm that acted as Facebook’s outside counsel in its 2012 initial public offering. From Weil representing Facebook are partners Keith Flaum and Jane Ross (corporate); Karen Ballack and Barry Fishley (technology and intellectual property transactions); Paul Wessel and counsel Steven Margolis (employee benefits); Ellen Odoner (securities disclosures); and Randi Singer (intellectual property and media litigation). Facebook Inc. (NASDAQ:FB) stock advanced 2.31% and finished the last session at $69.63. The EPS of the stock remained 0.66. Company’s market capitalization is $177.35 billion.
Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) announced its Ads API program, allowing advertisers to run their campaigns through API partners like Adobe and Salesforce. Now it’s giving the program a new name — the Twitter Marketing Platform Program — as well as a new website. Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) shares closed at $56.63 on last trade day, by gaining 2.04%. Stock 52 week range is $38.80 – $74.73. Company’s market capitalization is $30.85 billion.
The technology sector has had an incredible multi-year run with a string of hot IPOs and the Nasdaq climbing back over 4,000. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) was sued by a German architectural firm over a patent for technology that allows users to provide space-based images of the earth. Art+Com, based in Berlin, claims Google infringed the architectural firm’s patent when the search-engine giant unveiled its Google Earth application in 2005, according to a lawsuit filed yesterday in Delaware. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) stock opened at $1,203.14 in last trading session and closed at $1,204.11. The 52 week range of the stock is $761.26 – $1,212.87 and the day range was $1,200.22 – $1,206.89.
