CEO Dick Costolo of Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is planning to visit China and depicted it as a personal tour. Chinese censors had blocked the micro blogging service since 2009. It is also speculated that he will meet academics, students and Shanghai regime officers in his first visit to China.
In pipeline of Costolo’s visit, meeting diplomats of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone as well as Shanghai regime officers is included. For testing market liberalization method, Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone is created in 2013. It is also expected that senior executives of Twitter are trying to get license to do business over there but are silent in comparison to CEO Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook who openly describe his plan to do business in China to accomplish his vision of connecting the world.
Costolo will reach Pudong International Airport at Shanghai and will spend three days in the business capital. This trip shows that the company is trying to convince officials to remove the ban from site and increase its user base.
With Beijing’s authorization, the move of entering in China is a clear sign of opening its way to emerging market. However, Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) did not reveal any information of this trip. According to a Twitter spokesman, it is just a private visit for Dick as he is highly enthusiastic about Chinese traditions and the blooming technology sector and wants to learn more about it.
Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) are under ban by Chinese administration and due to unfair editing of the Internet in China, Google was banned in 2010. Meeting university officers and at Fudan University in Shanghai, having a discussion session with students is also in pipeline of CEO’s visit, according to the official sponsor of his visa.
