The Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone is included in some of the most-searched for gadgets, according to Google’s year-end Zeitgeist report. For U.S. searches, the report reveals that the iPhone 5 was the most-searched for phone this year. This brings no big surprise to many, as the iPhone has always been a popular device and in 2012 had a little extra juice behind it because it was the first iPhone with a screen size bigger than 3.5 inches and 4G LTE. Apple products continued to catch attention, as the iPhone 4S was the second-most searched for terms in the phones category.

Elsewhere in the tech sector, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) was also facing a decline today after the company announced that Craig Mundie, chief research and strategy officer, is handing over responsibilities as he prepares to retire in 2014.
