David Cameron to Support Ed Davey in Strong Energy Consultation Speech

Posted by on Feb 09, 2014

David Cameron, will support Ed Davey in the coming Energy Consultation, that will put a lot of pressure on energy companies in the UK, to stand by what they have been implemented to do. Which is deliver insulation to the UK’s housing stock. With the current Energy Consultation less than seven days away, in a quick U-Turn, David Cameron wants all energy companies, who are legally obliged to help reduce the energy carbon emissions in the UK under EU law.

David Cameron will support Ed Davey in the belief that Energy Companies although they will receive a two year extension on their obligated targets under the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) will not receive the carbon uplift for any measures that are delivered between now and March 15th 2014.

The carbon uplift would mean that the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) would be reduced considerably in size, with some utility companies reported to be receiving 2x the value of any carbon that they have submitted under the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO). This would mean that the available free grants to those UK households who most need it, would not be available.

The stop of the carbon uplift, would allow the energy companies in the UK, to still receive their extension. However, they would still have to produce and deliver the same targets, without the carbon uplift as first thought.

David Cameron sold many UK voters on his Greener Government and this strong move to implement that energy companies do have to deliver on what they are legally obliged to, will see the carbon emissions in the UK reduced and homeowners energy bills slashed considerably, with warmer for longer homes.
