Analysts view on stronger growth of banks including Citigroup (NYSE:C) and Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC)

Analysts stated that banks are developing stronger for numerous reasons. Following the financial crisis, they tightened lending principles and reinforced the capital they hold to defend against failure.

Some years later, the bad loans are being reduced from the system. As stated by the FDIC, loss provisions in the Q3 declined 20% from the similar period in the prior year to $14.8 billion.

Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC), the largest bank in Massachusetts, plans to shut four more branches in the state in March.

The Charlotte, N.C.-headquartered bank declared that it plans to settle offices at Center Plaza in Boston, Chace Road in Freetown, Court Street in Plymouth, and North Main Street in Springfield. Moreover, the bank intends to remove the drive-up window at its branch on Main Street in Westfield.

Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE:WFC) has decided to give up to $2.5 million in attorneys’ fees to resolve two complaints that stem from its acquisition of Wachovia in 2008.

The state’s fourth-largest bank by assets stated in a filing with the Securities Exchange Commission on Friday that its board would recover some of its governing practices as element of the proposed pact, which would fix claims by stockholders that Wachovia bought Golden West Financial in 2006 without evaluating the mortgage lender’s portfolio adequately.
