salesforce.com’s Profit Soars, Shares Up (CRM, AMAT, ARUN, BRCD)

salesforce.com, inc. (NYSE:CRM) shares gained 6.13% to $142 in the pre-market session after the company reported first-quarter net loss of $19.48 million or $0.14 per share, as compared to net income of $530 thousand or break even per share in the same quarter last year. Non-GAAP net income for the quarter was $54.45 million or $0.37 per share. Total revenues rose to $695.47 million from $504.36 million in the prior year quarter. Analysts expected the company to report earnings of $0.34 per share on revenue estimate of $678.21 million for the quarter.

Looking forward, the company expects second-quarter GAAP net loss per share to be in the range of $0.10 to $0.09, while non-GAAP earnings per share is expected to be in the range of $0.38 to $0.39. Revenue is projected to be in the range of $724 million to $728 million. Analysts expect the company to report earnings of $0.38 per share on revenues of $713.78 million for the second-quarter.

Applied Materials, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMAT) shares fell 0.67% to $10.41 in the after hour session after the company posted second quarter profit of $289 million, or $0.22 a share, from $489 million, or $0.37 a share, a year earlier. Adjusted per-share earnings were $0.27. Revenue dropped 11% to $2.54 billion. The company’s upbeat February forecast called for a per-share profit of $0.20 to $0.28 with revenue of $2.3 billion to $2.52 billion.

Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) shares declined 8.24% to $14.04 in the after hour session after the company posted third quarter net income of $6.0 million or $0.05 per share, as against $3.2 million or $0.03 per share in the same period last year.

Adjusted earnings were $19.4 million or $0.16 per share. Revenues grew 25% to $131.9 million. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.16 per share on revenues of $131.69 million for the quarter.

Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BRCD) reported second quarter net income of $39.30 million or $0.08 per share, as against $26.08 million or $0.05 per share in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted net income for the quarter increased to $72.22 million or $0.15 per share. Total net revenues declined 1% to $543.44 million. Analysts expected the company to earn $0.12 per share on revenues of $541.37 million.
